    Default Considering a new crawler.

Hey guys. In a month or so I'm going to be in the position to add another crawler to my fleet and have been looking at 3 vehicles through Tower Hobbies.

The first is the Venom Safari. This has a DIG unit and 70 degrees of articulation. I like the older style Defender style bodies as well.

The second is the HPI Crawler King. I have watched a few YouTube videos on this crawler, it seems fine and the price is decent, but there is nothing that really jumps out at me other than the Jeep body.

The last is the Axial SCX-10, the higher end of the three because of the heavy duty chassis and wheels.

I'm not sure what upgrades are available for which, and since I'm pretty new to crawling I'm not compltely sure I will ever need a DIG unit. I do have a Losi Night Crawler but to be honest for what I paid for it I'm a bit disappointed in it's overall performance even with worm gears.

Are u looking for a scale rig or a comp rig? If u want a comp rig u should consider adding the new axial xr10 to your list.

Scale, there's not really anything organized in my area as far as comp. Even if there was the people in this area will set something up, let everyone get interested and invest heavily into comp crawlers and then get bored with it. The couple of guys I crawl with are all scale or close to scale guys that just have fun.

If your going the scale route, I would deffinately go with any of the axial SCX10 kits. Axial has a huge following of after market parts and the main components are all already tried and true. Chassis, trans, axles and beadlocks even the tires are all top notch and pretty tuff out of the box. Check rcpcrawlers.com out for some great deals on the rigs you are looking for. Great service and fast shipping. Hope this helps

I would def go with the new axial rig as far as comp. But scale, no better way than the scx10!

Thanks for the replies guys. I did buy a second Losi Night Crawler, Lipo battery, charger and equalizer in late July. Spent about $500 retail and ran it one complete battery charge. Unfortunately I had to put them both up for sale to cover back to school expenses that I didn't plan for. The older one has sold already but the economy is pretty bad right now up here and nobody seems to want the newer one. I don't think people up here understand what rock crawling is all about. But I still have my Losi Mini and that's what I get the most enjoyment out of anyway.

Go with ElChupo's idea, SCX10 ALL THE WAY.
